In October 2023, The Original Factory Shop joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network.

1 in 6 of the world’s population experience some form of disability. The Sunflower raises awareness of hidden disabilities and exists to encourage inclusivity, acceptance and understanding for everyone.

Wear the Sunflower Lanyard when you need additional support or a little more time. Not all disabilities are visible – some are not immediately obvious, such as autism, dementia, anxiety, visual or hearing impairment. People with visual or hearing disabilities do not always wear glasses or hearing aids. Those with joint problems or chronic pain may not always use mobility aids. Although the hidden disability can make daily living more challenging for many people, it can be difficult for others to recognise or acknowledge. Others may not understand the cause of the problem, if they cannot see evidence of it in a visible way. The Sunflower Lanyard makes you visible if you have hidden disabilities and require assistance, wearing the green Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard indicates that you need additional support or just a little more time. Sunflower Lanyard has been purposefully designed to act as a discreet sign that the wearer has a hidden disability and requires additional assistance. It has become the established symbol for hidden disabilities globally and has been successfully introduced to airports, supermarkets, railway stations and sports venues.

Here at The Original Factory Shop we want to help break the stigma and offer support to both our colleagues and customers who may be wearing a Sunflower product.
